The Peterson Company and InterFibe have partnered together, drawing on the expertise in our respective industries, to develop a unique, competitive source of cellulose fiber specifically for pet food applications.
Purified and mechanically disintegrated, PetFibe™ is obtained as a pulp from fibrous plant materials and contains a 90% minimum total dietary fiber. PetFibe™ is biodegradable, non-hazardous and non-toxic. It consists of modified cellulose fibers with an incredibly high surface area produced by a proprietary process that fibrillates the fiber ends. This results in significantly increased activity which is considerably more beneficial in pet food applications than traditional cellulose fibers.
Dietary fiber is used widely in pet foods to maintain dog and cat health. Suggested applications include feline hair-ball products, dental care formulations and as a binding agent in baked biscuits. PetFibe™ is essentially neutral in palatability and will take on the flavor profile of its surrounding ingredients. It also has the unique functional characteristic of absorbing both lipophilic and hydrophilic liquids.
